Ever since I can remember I have loved going on trips to the zoo. My first zoo experience was with my grandmother in Minnesota. I distinctly recall seeing the giraffe exhibit first and being absolutely mesmerized with how strange and different they were from anything else I had ever seen. From class trips and visits with my family in my youth, to now when I visit with my friends or bring the children I baby-sit for, the zoo is always exciting and intriguing.
Getting to see a wide variety of animals all brought together in one place is an experience I will never grow bored with. It amazes me that in just one trip to the zoo I can see hundreds of animals from around the world that I typically would have never been exposed to. It makes me wonder how much I would be missing out on if zoos were never in existence to preserve animal species and allow the public to see and experience them.
Currently I am a student at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
